i keep thinking it's monday.

Jack has the sniffles and sneezes today. OF COURSE! We weren't sick last week so it's time. I'm not getting sick. I refuse.
I've been dreaming of plane crashes all weekend so I haven't had any good sleep. I'm taking Jack on his first plane ride in a couple of days. I'm terrified. Just thinking about it makes me feel sick.
Lots of changes happening for my bff. I'm so happy for her- she's leaving her job of 12 years to start something new and there's a new interesting something that's been going on in her life. I like it.

chocolate diet coke.
Husband and I had dinner at Cha Cha's and for the hundredth time, we had slow, slow, slow service. We sat there for over 15 minutes and watched servers sweep the floor and walk by and chat and ignore us. Very annoying. Gosh, kids, I worked at a restaurant when I was in college- it's not that hard. Also, when we go out to eat, why do all servers assume Husband and I are on separate checks? It's weird. We're married, people. We almost always have the kid with us too.
Jack and I are on a hunt to find a baby tie and slacks today. A baby wedding outfit! Then we pack- then my dear friend is making us dinner.

(Jack is dancing in the living room and it's really freaking cute.)

summertime.

Friday got better. Husband brought really pretty flowers home and we took Baby Jack to a park to play. I bought a pair of bright red leather heels and they were on sale for $30. Husband and Jack went to the golf course and my friend, Kelli, picked me up and we had margaritas and pacificos at Cha Cha's.
below: I seriously wore sweat pants in public on Friday- to the park and shoe shopping.

Random things: I bought Penny Hill's album, Unbutton Your Heart, on itunes and it's lovely. I'll be listening to it a lot this summer and you should too. Pistachio ice cream is my all time favorite and somehow Husband knows it's Carrie Bradshaw's favorite too. No idea. My son knows the difference between a crane, loader, box truck and a dozer. Probably knows more trucks that I don't know. I recorded a sweet little cover HERE.
This morning, Husband left at 6am to head to a tee time. We're meeting my momma for lunch then I'm taking Jack to stay the night with "Bop," my father-in-law. I don't know what Husband and I are doing tonight but something fun, probably in OKC. Anything fun going on?

gimme shelter.

This week has been too long. Husband has been really sick and since he's not sick very often, he thought he was dying for 3 days and was in the worst mood ever. Jack and I steered clear and played and chased and had tea par pars and talked about animals and feet. Tornados ripped through Oklahoma on Tuesday. We knew early in the day that it was going to happen so I packed Jack's tornado emergency bag and a little bag for Husband and I. If our house blows away, I want Jack's baby book, his night night animals, diapers, toothbrushes, underwear, and a clean tshirt. I hid my guitars away in their cases and put what little valuables we have left after the great break-in 2010 away in the gun safe. I know this all sounds insane but living in Oklahoma, you've seen how devastating tornados can be and well, shit, if you have the time to kill, you might as well be a little prepared, right? I picked Jack up early from school and had the truck all packed up. We took shelter in a basement at OU, which is very close to our house. Our dog was there, Husband, my 2 brothers and my sister in law. When it was over, I saw this story on the news and my heart completely broke. I haven't slept well all week.
On another subject, I'm thinking about hanging up my guitar. It's hard being in a band, it's like you're married to a bunch of people who don't usually agree on everything. After leaving my other band last week, I'm feeling defeated and far away from everyone. I feel like I haven't really talked to anyone but a 2 year old in a really long time. Maybe that is a good thing, he always makes me happy and is interested in what I have to say. I haven't even really spoken to any of my friends in a while. Sometimes I just quit calling and texting and making plans for everyone but no one seems to notice. Nobody calls or texts me about anything. Ever feel like you just want to move far away and be anonymous? I do, all the time.
It's all a little heavy and dramatic for a blog, huh? I apologize, I'm just having a crappy day. Everyone has them sometime.
Jack had a playdate.
Remember Olivia, aka Little Mariah Carey? She's getting so big! Jack and I had fun with her and her momma. They're moving to Mexico next week.

T-shirt dress from American Apparel.

Jack bumped his head and insisted on wearing a band-aid. Then he insisted i wear one too.

i'm done for the week.

little dream.

A friend brought these adorable cans of champagne to our cookout this weekend. I made lemon cupcakes and they were really good. Not as good as my sister-in-law's fruit tarts though! My favorite dessert ever.
Husband started feeling crappy on Saturday morning but powered through the party. Today he is the sickest I've ever seen him. I think he's got whatever the baby and I had a couple of weeks ago- it's miserable.

I found an umbrella for the outside table on sale at Atwood's for $25! They have green, blue, navy blue, white, black, tan and orange. I love stores that carry boots, umbrellas, cinnamon suckers, and baby chickens.
When Husband gets better, you should come over and kill a bottle of wine with me. Or vodka or whiskey or beer or whatever it is you drink because I probably have it.

Jack's been a very sweet boy this week. He's all about thank yous and pleases, he's been doing really well on the potty training front, and he's been helping me unload the dishwasher.

We ordered lunch from Thai Thai today. It was so cute inside and they're super friendly and the food is really good.

Below are the usual pics of me in a mirror. David doesn't like these. They are pretty stupid, I know this but I don't care.

Oh. Bulletproof Tiger has split. I am going one way and the boys are going another. They're going by Porch Mice now. I've started a thing called Jaguarettes. It's not country OR western. What else is there, you say? I start recording on Tuesday so you'll find out soon. I've posted a crappy recording here but stay tuned for real recordings.

the dude abides.

We are back in the great state of Oklahoma. Baby is sleeping, Husband is sleeping. I'm watching E!News, drinking tea, and catching up on blog reading. Las Vegas was fun. Husband, Timmy, Anna, and I stayed at Planet Hollywood. We saw Peepshow and Mystere. We drank poolside, I got my first sunburn ever, we did a lot of shopping, we had a fancy dinner, we hung out with my sisters-in-law and their husbands, we went to the old part of Vegas, we slummed it at a punk rock club, we drank vacation drinks, we watched the Thunder, and one day I had cheese fries for breakfast. I didn't drink green tea one single day. Hell yeah I went crazy for my 30th. Totally outrageous, I know.

Up top is a pic of a typical Vegas breakfast= a white russian. ...ok, i only did it one time and i only drank 1/3 of it before giving it to Husband. Whatever.

above: somehow i have a ton of pics of Tornado Timmy (The Oh Johnny! Girls' bass player) on various hotel phones. He was especially impressed with the "crapper phone" in his room. Oh man, I just remembered the videos I shot of him making prank calls to the Vegas hookers. Just so you know- ALL of the numbers on those fliers go to the same person. Yes, I realize how stupid it sounds that we were prank calling hookers while in Las Vegas but it was funny so shut up.
above: Justin and Natalie on the first night. Margaritas for everyone! Well, I think Justin had a beer.
Friday night we ventured downtown. We hit up Binion's and wandered the streets watching performers and making fun of people.
above: after a night out, pool time was very refreshing.
above: Saturday evening, Husband had reservations for Mon Ami Gabi and they ate steak and I ate vegetables. And they even had a cake delivered to the restaurant! Red velvet- my favorite. It was very sweet.

above: Birthday/shoe/love.
above: Anna enjoying the sun and the pina coladas.
below: Ok, so i really like these denim style harem pants- i know- what the hell- but i am sometimes a weirdo and like weirdo things, usually weirdo fashion things. Back to my thought- I like them but I don't like them on me. I see them on other girls and they look cool- on me, these look like denim sweat pants. I would really love this to work out but I just don't think it's going to. Denim. Sweat. Pants. No.

Below: You may wonder why I take pictures of myself trying on clothes while shopping. Let me explain- I like to shop and I like to buy but sometimes if i'm unsure if i really like something, I take a quick picture that way I can look at it later when I'm at home convincing myself that I should have bought it and now that I didn't buy it, my world will be over because I need- HAVE- to wear it that night. So if I have a picture, I can look at it for real and remind myself of any doubts. I think about things like this. I was born this way, ok?
I did buy this shirt. Kind of regretting not buying the jeans. I also tried on this dress but they didn't have my size.
below: I liked this dress but wasn't sure so I didn't buy it. I can always order it here I guess.

above and below: After the birthday dinner, we all went to see Peepshow. I wanted to be comfortable so I wore a light sweater, jeans, and my leopard birthday shoes.

below: The flight home was pretty painless. When we got home, my mother-in-law, Pamela, came by to bring Baby Jack home. He picked out a present for me- a pretend tea set so we could have tea parties, mini cupcakes, and 2 cards, both featuring dogs. Very cute! He also took me out to Pamela's car where there was... a chair wrapped up in the back! A chair that I have been wanting. And I love it. Welcome to your new home, Chair.

above: Birthday tea party. Sweetest ever.

I will leave you with these cuties. Jack and his cousin, Peyton. They spent the weekend together and had lots of fun.
