Real Housewives of Oklahoma.

I wrote a real letter to an old friend today. A real letter on stationary with a matching envelope and everything. I used to write letters all the time but I don't have many friends who live far away anymore. Or they never wrote back so I quit sending them stuff. Receiving personal mail makes me so happy and I wish it happened more often.

Lately I've been missing some old friends. Or maybe the way my friends treated me before I got married, bought a house and had a baby. I love my friends, don't get me wrong. Sitting at home all the time and not being invited to dinner or drinks or movies when I'm actually free to go almost anytime sucks though. I was seriously on the phone the other day for 45 minutes and only said "yeah" and "uh huh" and "i understand." Maybe it's not you, it's me. Maybe I'm just not as fun to hang out with as I think I am.

Bitch and complain, bitch and complain. That's why I like blogging- if you don't want to hear it, don't read it. Maybe I'm in a bad mood because A.) it looks sunny and beautiful outside but it's really cold so I don't want to go out or B.) we're out of Diet Coke and all I want in life right now is a Diet Coke and Baby Jack is napping so I am stuck at home for another hour.
Aww man. This Baby Jack on a baby four wheeler makes me feel much better. Diet Coke, I don't need you anymore.
This is David jumping on the bed when we all went to see Broken Social Scene. He was just so excited. I wish Husband would have jumped on the bed with him. That would have been a better picture.

If ANYBODY is free to hang out this evening, Husband is going to play basketball so I'm free to do something. Dinner (at a baby friendly place) or a glass of wine on my back porch while baby plays or something? Ok. Maybe that's why nobody likes to hang out with me anymore= because everything must be baby friendly. Well, Baby Jack is way more fun to hang out with than you anyway. He doesn't bitch and complain about anything and he lets me talk too.

This Ol' Honky Tonk.

Today has been a great day. Baby Jack slept in so we slept in. Had brunch at Iguana Grill in OKC with my mom, brother, and sister-in-law for Husband's birthday. Afterwards, Husband, Jack and I went to Edmond to visit my grandma in her new place- she was moved to a nursing home. It was a pleasant place and she was in good spirits, playing with Jack and talking golf with Husband.
Up top- This is what I'm doing right this second. Sitting on the back porch, drinking a budweiser with ice, listening to Townes Van Zandt and Dwight Yoakam and painting my nails my favorite shade- OPI Koala Berry. Jack is playing in the yard with his four wheeler and his baby lawn mower and Husband is drinking beer and singing along to songs, rocking in his chair.
It's 77 degrees and the sun is setting over the giant hill in our back yard. This is Oklahoma so we're enjoying this weather now because it could very well blizzard or tornado tomorrow, no telling.
Baby Jack had a chocolate ice cream cone on the way home. Very messy.

Last weekend, Husband and our friend David went up to Tulsa to watch Broken Social Scene at the legendary Cain's Ballroom. I spent most of my high school weekends going to shows at Cain's. I've played there one time and it was awesome.
We hit up a mexican joint in our town called Cha Cha's before our journey.
Checked into our hotel in Tulsa and hung out at Caz's bar, a Tulsa favorite of mine and then Soundpony. Caught up with a few friends and headed next door to the show. It was awesome.

Last Tuesday was Husband's 29th birthday. We grilled out and I brought home cupcakes from Sugar.
Workout gear. It's easier to track my progress with pictures. I really don't get on the scale very often.
pink sweater, brown boots.

Baby Jack started "school" last week. 3 days a week for 5 hours each day. So far, he has been a good baby. I was so scared the first day, expecting a call about my kid biting or pinching another kid, but instead he was a number 10 on their "Happy Meter." Very good. And they're very impressed with this kid's style. Of course.

Friday we had a birthday party for Husband. It was fun and a little drunk. I made butter pecan cupcakes and a peanut butter thing that turned out pretty awesome.
I have a ton of great photos to upload from my real camera but it's just easier to upload pics from my phone. I know, I'm lazy. I'll get around to it.
The Oscars on on so I'm going inside to make dinner and hang out on the couch.

victory at last.

Once upon a time, there was a girl (me) and she had a baby boy (Baby) and he made her weigh one million pounds. And guess what?
I have just recently entered the 12o's again! Yes, it's very exciting. Yes, it's been 2 years and a month since I had the baby but you know, these things take time. Especially when I simply cannot deny myself a little chocolate and a little pizza here and there or, like, every day or every other day. The past month I've been sort of following the Tracy Anderson Method and it's the best thing ever. I mean, if you don't believe me, believe Gwyneth. Yay! Clap for the Mommy! *Baby would clap for me.
How much cute can one baby have? I know I'm his mother (whoa, I'm somebody's mother?!) but I just think he is so handsome.
My tiger bandmate and his friend, Katy. They giggle and stuff. EEEEW.
Saw a band called The Needles last night. They were great and I would like to see them again but guys, more originals please! I sound like jerk, huh? I don't mean it in a mean way.
People think I'm really, really tall but it's only because I wear obnoxiously tall high heels. I'm really 5'6 and one half. *the one half is very important.
The Baby picked out his outfit. I usually give him 2 choices of shirts, pants, and shoes and i pick a jacket. It was sunny out and he wanted to wear his baby Ray-Bans but they were in Husband's truck and he was at work so he picked these orange fake Ray-Bans out of our crappy sunglasses drawer. *we keep our nice sunglasses in a tray by the front door. It's funny how definite he is about his clothing choice.
Notice Goodnight Moon in his hand. He's been carrying it around with him everywhere lately.
So I'm not great at this blogging thing- sometimes I keep up with it and sometimes I don't. I'm a busy girl and I have very important things to do. Like eat a bag of Planters Chili Lime Flavor Grove Skinless Almonds instead of the recommended handful. Someday I'll have more pages on here- like every other blogger on the cyberface of the earth. I'm working on it, people. *and by "people," i mean my mom and, like, 2 of my friends.
Babies in goggles are pretty awesome babies.
I had planned on driving to see my in-laws on this beautiful Saturday but instead I'm laying on my couch watching Kardashian re-runs. I am not feeling so good today- allergy problems + headache + back spasms. Please fix me and then take me to happy hour.

music, i say.

Bulletproof Tiger- Patient Darlin'

Cody got snowed in at our place a couple weeks back. We played music and our friend, Evelyn, recorded it. Yes, I know my ukulele and the guitar are out of tune. We were freezing and didn't really care. Couple of shows coming up in March and April.

smile of a lion.

Two things come to mind at this moment. 1. Look at those baby eyelashes! He's like a baby camel or something. 2. I would like to thank the Creator for creating cantaloupe. It is delicious and it reminds me of sitting in my grandma's breakfast nook at her old house in Durant, OK. I've been eating a lot of it lately because, you see, I can't eat chocolate ice cream all day everyday.
Remember when you were a kid and everything was an adventure and every stick and rock was a toy? When I was little, I played and pretended and ate and slept and dreamed and played and pretended. Rose, our private babysitter, lived on a farm. They had chickens and cattle and barns, tractors, and bales of hay. One particular tractor sat to the side of the big yellow house and we would pretend it was a snow cone stand. (? yeah, i don't know but it was fun at the time.) Sometimes the cows would have babies and the days we got to bottle feed the calves were the best. I can remember how it felt when one would lick my hand. It tickled.
I wonder what goes on in Baby's mind when he's playing. I'm watching him play right now- he's putting on a pair of gloves and his pretend chainsaw is on the table in front of him. He's talking to himself, "vroom vroom dada (babble babble sigh) choo choo." Oh, now he has his goggles on as well. Somehow Bear Bear is involved in whatever he's playing- Baby set Bear Bear up on the table to watch him "cut" something. He's very busy and very content.
These pictures are from our playground playtime yesterday. It's still amazing outside so we'll venture out after Baby's nap.
I'm amazed at what Baby does and what makes him happy and what makes him concerned. People say "it's the little things" and it's really true. I love watching him because he's not worried about tests or money or friendship drama or parking tickets. He's totally stress-free. The only thing he worries about is getting all of his things gathered up at bedtime. Meow Meow, Bear Bear, Little Cat, paci, water, and 2 blankets. That's a lot of stuff to worry about for such a little boy.

Baby the explorer.

He literally RAN out of these shoes (they're a little big and they velcro at the heel) so he had to switch to regular tennis shoes. Can you still call them tennis shoes if they velcro?
Fastest Baby in the world.

Sun Will Shine

It's 3:01pm on Wednesday afternoon and I'm sitting at the kitchen counter in my workout clothes, eating chocolate ice cream out of the tub. I'm such a housewife. So far today has been a great day. The Baby slept in until 9:25am! He ate all of his breakfast, took a bath and managed to not destroy my bathroom, used the potty 3 times, I made my brother lunch while he played with Baby, I took Baby outside to play on his playground, came in and cleaned Baby up, fed Baby lunch, Baby threw lunch on the floor- all over the carpet, cleaned the carpet, held Baby until he fell asleep, put Baby in his crib, and now, here we are, at the ice cream.

Below is a pic of Baby and Husband bringing me flowers for Valentine's Day.

The Mommy
The Daddy
The Baby (eating a red velvet cupcake i made)
Earlier on Valentine's, Baby and I drove to Edmond to visit my grandma and to give her a card and some chocolate. I wore a scarf she gave me years ago.

Baby eats his breakfast and wants Mommy out of his face with her camera.

Yesterday, a couple of friends came over for burgers. We played a few songs and sat on the back porch. I had a couple of margaritas and a lot of water. It's so nice out, I want to do it again this evening.
I'll have another post either later today or tomorrow. I took a ton of photos of Baby on his playground today with my Nikon D300. Since it's so nice out, I'll start using it a lot more. I've just been lazy- cause, you know, it's really time consuming and hard to keep the batteries charged and the lens clean. I mean, seriously, it takes a whole 15 seconds or something.
