Adventures with Baby

Yesterday the Boy had a doc appointment to get a booster shot and it was a good thing because he started getting sick on Sunday night. He has croup. He is fine during the day and gets bad at night. He doesn't act sick, not really a runny nose or anything, just this wicked cough and horrible noise when he breathes. It's 9:30am and he's still sleeping. I figured I would let him sleep a little longer than usual so he can get better.
After his appointment, we came home and played in the front yard. He really wanted to throw his football into the basketball goal but never quite made it. When he tries to throw it straight up towards the goal, he just throws it over his head, straight behind him. He runs and laughs and runs back to try again.
It was unusually warm yesterday. A nice day to play in the leaves.
I caught the one attempt that made it forward and not backward. (Imagine a baby tiger roaring as he throws the ball as hard as he can because that's what it sounded like. His little voice is hoarse.)
The Boy heard a kitty in the neighbor's bushes. He pointed and said Meow Meow. Yes, there was a kitty, it was our kitty, Cookie. Cookie won't let you touch him though so he never came out. The Boy tried to climb in the bushes to get that kitty but I wouldn't let him. Sorry, kid.
After we played, we loaded up and headed for OKC. We met Husband for lunch in Bethanny at Abel's. We'd been hearing what a great mexican place it was and it was true. So good. Would have been better if the Boy hadn't insisted on sitting in my lap instead of his highchair. Normally that would not fly with me but since he's sick and had a shot that day- i caved.
After lunch, we ran over to Rink, a flea market-y, vintage-y, antique store place. They have one of everything and you should go if you live around here. I found lots of stuff but really don't have a place to put any of it so i didn't buy anything. My mom would love this place.
I have this exact table except mine is black, not aqua. It was Grandma's.

This is a tiny roll-top desk. My MacBook Air would fit so perfectly on it.
This thing really freaked us out. I'm scared of it. A dresser with little ceramic cat head knobs. But why??!! I love antique/vintage shopping. To find the good stuff and the weird, creepy stuff.

Last night the Boy was on the couch with me, winding down, while I was looking at celebrity gossip online. He saw this picture of Jessica Alba and her baby, pointed at Alba and said "Momma" and looked at me. I explained that she was the baby's mommy and he insisted that it was his momma. Why thank you, most sweet child of mine. You always know how to give a compliment.

Knock Knock

Hello my darlings. So I've gotten a little lazy in the virtual world but the Boy is growing fast, his vocabulary and his legs in particular, and I can barely keep up with real life stuff like Laundry Mountain. What have we been up to?

Halloween stuff. It was a real hit with the Boy. He was a baby Elvis in a white bejeweled jumpsuit. Husband and I took him to the Fall Festival at The Trails. He cried when we put him in the baby moonbounce, shook his head "no" when we tried to put him on the pony, and tried to climb me to get away from a giant inflatable Incredible Hulk. His likes included looking at the ponies, the lemonade and frito chili pie.

On Friday we bought a new couch! It's the exact color of our previous one but one million times nicer and more comfortable. Getting the carpet cleaned this week, going to paint the walls a brighter white and looking for a new chair. My friend and bandmate, David Drennen, is going to do a large-scale painting and I'm putting it on the wall behind the couch. The Boy will be in the painting and i'm so excited to see what David comes up with. We're also in the process of cleaning out our garage. The pool table will be moved in there and the dining room table will live where it's supposed to live- in the dining room. I can't wait! I cook dinner for my boys almost every day and it would be so nice to sit down together. Yes, Husband, every evening.

Check out the book my bff, Anna, gave to me last night. Apparently he doesn't usually write what people ask him to write but thought Anna was funny so he did! (Though he added the "recipes" bit.) "To Brooke sorry the white people stole your recipes (which is crossed out) land. DS" I love Anna and David Sedaris.

Yesterday we went on a family outing around town. We had lunch at Pepe Delgado's, drove around looking at houses we want to buy when we win the lottery, donated baby clothes to East Main Place, and went to Stash, a little boutique vintage/antique shop on Main Street. I bought the white ring pictured below. I will be going back soon to grab some Christmas presents.

The Boy has made very good friends with Bear Bear. He introduced him to Meow Meow and won't sleep without both of them. He gives them drinks of his juice and puts blankets on them.

Bulletproof Tiger did a little video recording with Casey Friedman for Acoustic Oklahoma and also with Nathan Poppe for a VDub Session for 105.3 The Spy and Fowler VW. They were both fun. You can watch them here: Pick It Up Now That You're Gone In The Red

The Oh Johnny! Girls played on a trailer in the Ghouls Gone Wild Parade for the Girlie Show float. We loved it! So fun. I really hope we get to do it again next year.
