Senior Pics: A Little Profile

Rehearsal last night was great. Benny is a great addition to the band and I feel like we totally made the right choice. As long as he doesn't wear frip frops to the show, we're good. During a break, I thought it would be a nice time to take some candid pics of the band. Up top is a photo of Tornado Timmy, our bass player, and it's my favorite pic of the bunch. How can it not be with a smile like that? Awww... He will be a senior at the Classic's School for Drinking Age Boys this fall! We're so proud. He is a straight C student and hopes to drink all the beer in the world after graduation. He likes manstuff like fishing, big trucks, wrecking motorcycles, and hot girls. Check out his profile on eharmony.com
This is the new drummer, Bennett. Sandy and I decided to call him Benny although we haven't asked him if that's ok. He will soon get a nickname, I'm sure. He knows not what he got himself into. He is currently a summer school senior at the Cock O' the Walk Alternative School. He has been a high school senior for the past 2 years and is recently unemployed. Ladies! He's also single. He likes going to movies- we found that out early on- and nighttime strolls along the Bricktown Canal, barefoot. Benny also likes camping and cold beer.
TT's alternate senior photo. When I have time, I'll post the Timmy&Benny Best Friends Forever pics. There's a neon sign and everything.
This is Sandy. She is captain of the pom squad and currently in a serious relationship with her history teacher, Martin. She goes to the Flavor of Love All Girls High School. She enjoys cooking, yelling, bossing, home decorating, and a vodka drink that she simply calls "Special Drink." It really is delicious, y'all. She wins Most Beautiful in her class every year.

The End.

A Gummy Vitamin a Day

Baby had his 18 month wellness check-up this morning and he's doing fantastic. He weighs more than 96% of other 18 month olds, his head is bigger (and therefore smarter) than 97% of other 18 month olds, and he is taller than 99% of other 18 month old babies. He gets an A++ for growth. He decided to pee on the table as we were waiting for the doctor. Fun! He was scared of the nurse and screamed at her quite a bit. Immunization shots were given, no tears shed. Victory.
Baby carries around his new baby putter (courtesy of his grandpa= Pop) and a golf ball. I'm really hoping he doesn't break a window with it. Just another day in the life of a pro baby golfer.
Very concerned that he can't reach the toy train that jets back and forth up high on the wall.
After the doctor made him open his mouth with a yucky wooden stick, he got some Toy Story stickers and Smarties.
Baby is down for a nap, the house is clean, and I wrote a new Oh Johnny! Girls' song yesterday. What is there left to do today? I suppose I could write another song or learn something. Band rehearsal is tonight at 7 and I'm very excited to hang out with my bandmates. We're getting to know the new drummer and he seems cool so far. It always feels weird playing with strangers at first but then they become part of the family.
Just got off the phone with Husband, checked on the sleeping baby, and set up my guitar stuff. Man, I'm a lucky girl.

Guitars Diapers Pools & Playgrounds

This little family had a good weekend. Friday, Baby visited my mom for a little bit and Husband and I hung out with a few friends. We were all tucked into bed at a decent time. Baby was sleeping and Husband was sleeping while I watched bad reality tv. Saturday I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed. I made breakfast for the boys, gave the baby a bath, did a little laundry. Husband had made plans for that evening so his parents took the baby on a shopping adventure. We headed to OKC where we stayed at the Waterford. We swam and sipped cocktails all afternoon and went to dinner at my favorite place, Michael's Grill, later that night. Went by the Blue Note- hadn't been there since it closed and re-opened. Stopped by VZD's for a second to see some friends. Ended our night at the hotel bar for one last drink. Lucky for us, there had been a wedding that night and everyone in the bar had hilarious prom hair. Lots for us to discuss. The night was fun. I wore my new electric blue suede heels with a matchy strapless blue dress with white polka dots. Very smurf/katy perry. The shoes make me taller than Husband. Not sure that he appreciated that or not.
Sunday, we did a little morning swimming and then had lunch with the in-laws back in Norman. Went home, put Baby down for a nap and watched The Runaways. When Baby woke up, we took him to the pool at The Trails and then rode around in a golf cart for a while after.
Baby and Husband in the pool.

This is what i wore to dinner. Later, I changed into more comfortable 5 inch heels. I love this jackson pollack-ish dress though. (husband and baby never take photos of me so excuse the 1 7 year old girl myspace tacky mirror picture.)
Waterford pool.
Juanita's in Little Rock. On the way back from staying the night with Husband's grandparents in Arkansas.
Great Grandpa- Big T, Baby, Husband
At the summer breeze concert series. Every other sunday. Big Smith played- we liked them a lot.
Grocery shopping. I love this little striped baby gap shirt.
Baby at The Mont laughing really hard. He's wearing a baby AC/DC tshirt I bought at Target.
Baby sometimes eats ketchup with a fork.

these are a little out of order. whatever. Shopping again in cute shirt.

I was supposed to have Oh Johnny! Girls' practice today but it's been moved to tomorrow. BOO! I've been looking forward to it. Last practice with our new drummer, Bennett, went really well. Like, awesome well. I'm so excited for our upcoming show. August 7th at the Okie Twist Off at the 66 Bowl.

What shall we do today? Husband is golfing at the moment and tree people are coming this afternoon to cut down 2 or 3 trees so we have room for a big plaything so Baby has his own private park. Husband's parents took Baby to pick one out this weekend. It's really cool- will post pictures of our backyard transformation soon.

This is the end of this post. It's almost time to wake the kid up and feed him some breakfast. No time for proofreading.

Hot Summer Days, Hot Stolen Car

I know. I've been lazy about blogging. So much has happened in the past month, I don't even know where to begin. Some highlights?
We've been down the to the lake a few times to take the boat out and hang out with family. It's been fun. I had a crazy allergic reaction to some sunscreen. It sucked. I almost sliced off my little toe on the raw edge of a mirror. I had 3 stitches and it hurt like a bastard. The worst thing about that was I couldn't wear heels for 10 days. 10 DAYS, PEOPLE! Not cool. Let's see... what else?
Baby's hair is getting longer, he's getting taller, talking more, eating more, teething, and throwing more tantrums. But he's also very sweet and gives kisses and hugs.
I've had a few drinks with this pretty lady. She is hilarious. Never ask for child rearing advice from her. She'll tell you to leave "it" at home and go lay out by a pool, sipping cocktails. (are you done with the plague yet, M? we need to hang out- pronto.)
Jack took this picture on a Target shopping trip. Lovely composition, i must say.
Pretty Husband.
Handsome Baby.

We've been in our little pool quite a bit this summer.
And of course to the park a lot.

Oh yeah. This other thing happened too.

Husband and I had a trip to Vegas all planned. 2 of my best friends were going to be there on our anniversary weekend so it worked out perfectly. But then- 2 days before we leave, at 5pm, Husband, Baby, and I left the house for 45 minutes to run to Classic 50's to get a drink and drop by a friend's house to pick up something they had borrowed. As we pulled up to our house, Husband said, very calmly, "Where's my truck?" Um. What? Seriously, where is his truck? I immediately became Nagging Wife and said "I told you to quite leaving your keys in your unlocked truck!" Turns out he didn't. They broke into our house, stole 2 guns, 1 guitar, a lot of my jewelry, all of my cameras, golf clubs, everything in our safe- our passports, ss cards, birth certificates, motorcycle title, marriage license, etc. Oh, and all of my flip flops? And my new Gap hoodie and my childhood babydoll. They must have seen Husband's keys on the way out. WTF?! I'm still finding things missing- everyday. And needless to say, we cancelled our Vegas trip. Boo.

Even crazier is that a few days later, Husband and I were on our way home from OKC in his new truck. We're sitting still in traffic, waiting to get on the 35 Southbound exit from I-240. "MOTHERFUCKER! MOTHERFUCKER!" said Husband. Guess what? His stolen truck just passed us. We jump out of the exit lane and follow the truck. Now, the truck is a white Ford F-150. There are only one million in Oklahoma so how did we know it was his? The 2 antennas on the roof and the new tires he had recently put on. We called 911. The guy figured out we were following him and started to play car chase games. At one point, both trucks were nose to nose, waiting for each other to make a move. He pulled up next to us, on my side, rolled the windows down and threw his hands in the air. I was scared, knowing that I didn't want to get shot with our stolen guns, I ducked down. He took off and the chase was really on. At one point, Husband talking to 911, said, "Ma'am. He is in a white Ford F-150. Yes. I am also driving a white Ford F-150. Yes. We are BOTH DRIVING WHITE FORD F-150S! WE ARE THE ONLY 2 WHITE FORD F-150S GOING 75MPH DOWN 29TH STREET! WE'RE HARD TO MISS." (imagine this with Husband's thick Alabama/Texas sounding accent)

Shortly after, we were swarmed by 20 cop cars in a neighborhood. They took off in every direction. At that point, we had lost the guy and were frantically driving around. 911 called to tell us the police had gone on a little high speed chase and they had the truck and the guy at S. 23rd and Walker at an EMSA station. We flew. They found a lot of Husband's stuff in the truck, 2 of my cameras. One loaded gun stuffed in between the drivers seat and the console. Meth. A bag of social security cards. Our checkbook with almost 30 checks missing. Blah. Yes, they've also been writing 800 dollar checks to Lowe's and Sam's. Also taking checks without a photo ID: Ross, Walgreens, Braum's, and 711. Everyday we've had more checks come through and have to go to the bank and the police station to fill our paperwork.

This is all a big hassle and money consumer. New locks, new door, alarm system, electric garage door with a keypad. We should have just gotten a german shepherd. Anyway. It was a crazy ride and I'm glad last week is over. I now have dreams about people breaking into the house and I'm trying to get to the baby's room. Ugh. I'm a tough girl but it's scary knowing someone has been in your home, going through your things. I feel like they were probably watching us for a while. I'm already a worrier by genetics so this has stressed me out quite a bit.

Oh, and I got a massage last week and had an allergic reaction to something they put on me! And it was our anniversary weekend and Husband forgot to make reservations and so we did nothing. THANKS A LOT, HUSBAND! He got in trouble but I guess I'll forgive him... as soon as that '61 Lincoln is in my driveway or you know, he could just take me to dinner or something.

Anyway, I'm glad it's Friday. My friends are coming over tonight and I'll be happy to sit on the back porch and play music. For now, music, Husband, and Baby make me feel better. Did I mention that The Oh Johnny! Girls have rehearsal on Sunday?! Let's hope this weekend makes up for stolen property, rashes, a cancelled trip, and a blah anniversary.

Special thanks to our family for watching Jack and all of the support.
I'll try to keep up with posts but i have pretty much zero time lately.
