They grow up so fast

Baby went to his 12 month wellness check-up last Thursday. He was weighed and measured. He rounded out to be bigger than about 97% of babies his age and more handsome than 100% of babies his age. The weather started to get bad later that day so we went to the store and stocked up on food and diet coke. It snowed and it iced. Today it is slushy. We've watched movies and eaten lots of food and had a little party. Saw Whip It, which turned out to be really good. Saw When In Rome (don't ask) and it was really bad.

Now we're watching the Grammys. I went to the Grammys with my brother when I was 21. He knew some of the nominees. 2 years ago, the Grammys were on at The Mont where I went to have a drink with a couple of my old bandmates, one of which was my exboyfriend. Exboyfriend brought his friend along and we watched Alicia Keys perform No One. The Friend turned out to be Future Husband who turned out to be Husband. I was so not interested in him at the time. He came to a couple of my shows and stalked me on myspace. I finally agreed to go on a date with him in mid March. I even tried to cancel that a couple of times. He picked me up and we hung out at Isis and then Edna's. We were supposed to go to dinner but I couldn't meet up that early. Some people say they just knew on the first date and I guess I was one of those people.

Baby weighed 27lbs and 14oz.
Photobucket
He tried to play with the baby in the mirror but he kept bumping him in the forhead.

Photobucket
How many people does it take to measure a baby?

Photobucket
He got a shot. He didn't cry very long though. He's a tough baby.

Photobucket
He's so pissed we tricked him into getting that shot.

Photobucket
Went to Atwood's and bought a new dog bed for Lucy and hot cinnamon suckers. I love them and apparently so does Baby.

Photobucket
(don't worry, Mom. we just let him taste it for a second, didn't leave him to chew on the sucker.)

Photobucket
Yesterday we walked around Target and then went to O'Connell's on campus corner to share some cheese fries and a happy hour beer. Baby was very loud. It's getting harder and harder to take him out to a restaurant.

Our snowy house.

Photobucket
The night Husband built a big fire and we drank wine and watched a movie. Baby was asleep.

Photobucket
Saturday night we had some friends over to our house to hang out after Jack went to bed. The girls played pool and the boys played dominos. Bandmate brought over one of our songs. You can hear it here.

Baby found a new toy called Lucy.

I have more stuff to write about but it's hard trying to write anything when I have people to judge on the Grammys.

I'm a goddamn bulletproof tiger.

2 songs up on the Bulletproof Tiger myspace page. Tell me what you think.
We're still mixing and messing with songs so nothing is set in stone.

who needs sleep?

Husband left for work early this morning and I haven't been able to go back to sleep so I thought I'd make a list of things I can live without but don't want to.
strawberry lemonade from Auntie Anne's in the mall- I'm mildly allergic to strawberries but I love them and sometimes the itchiness is worth it.

MAC lipstick in Girl About Town- they discontinued my favorite, Moxie, but this is the next best thing. I love hot pink lipstick.

MAC lipglass in Pink Lemonade- favorite lipgloss.

heating pad- I am always cold and a heating pad is warm and cozy. Ask anyone, I always have one around the house. Heated seats in the car are also just as awesome. Yes, I know I sound like an old lady.

Gretsch 6120-1960 Nashville- my beloved guitar. Best 2200 dollars anyone has ever spent on me for no reason.

Caress Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Body Wash- I love this soap. It doesn't bother my sensitve skin and smells delicious.

Cheese- I love cheese but I don't eat it very often. Any kind on anything.

Listening to Carole King while I'm cooking- one of my favorite things to do. Try it.

Escada Magnetism- I have been wearing this perfume since it came out years ago. I also wear Prada Infusion d'Iris.

Jackets- denim jackets, leather jackets, cropped jackets, boyfriend blazers, boleros, cardigans.

E! News- it's a guilty pleasure. I have no idea why I watch that crap.

The Office, Eastbound and Down, Entourage, Gossip Girl, Man v. Food, The League, and Million Dollar Listing- shows that I love to watch. Who doesn't?

Ok. I'll stop for now and try to take a little nap. What are some of your favorite things?
Have a good day.

Happy Birthday Baby Boy

It's hard to believe that one year ago, at 5:30 am on a Thursday morning, I went into labor. Of course I was in denial and told Husband to go ahead and go to work, I'd be fine. 5:30pm that evening, I was in so much pain, I (and my mom and Husband's mom) thought it would be a good idea to go to the hospital. Once I arrived, they told me my doctor was on her way and we'd have a baby in about 30 minutes. What? No. He's supposed to be here in 2 weeks, not today! I don't have everything ready. Well turns out, Baby doesn't care if you have everything ready or not. Here he comes. Husband was out of the room and I heard my doctor say that there was a rupture and she had to get Baby out RIGHT NOW. Thank god I already had drugs. By the time they got Husband ready to come into the room, Baby was halfway out. OF A HOLE IN MY STOMACH! Ugh. Scariest moment in my life. All I felt was a lot of tugging and pulling. Once Baby was out, and they were putting my guts back in, Baby was having trouble breathing so they took him to the nursery to do whatever they do to make him better. I vaguely remember telling Husband to go with the baby and being wheeled past our family to my room, crying because this whole thing was way bigger than anything I could wrap my brain around. Baby was fine. I was fine. Eventually the next day the morphine wore off and it felt like someone cut open my stomach and pulled a baby out. Ugh. Baby had a very hairy back and shoulders. That was funny. Lots of people visited. That was nice. Baby Jack Hudson Earl Brady was perfect. And brown with dark hair and tiny baby feet. I love baby feet. Still do.

So now, a year later, he's big and sweet and walks and talks to me and hugs me. This is a picture of him on the morning of his first birthday. He's not a morning baby.
Photobucket
We went to lunch with my mom and he tried to share his cracker with everyone who walked by.
Photobucket
We went grocery shopping and got stuff to make him cookies. He loves cookies.
Photobucket
Then we went to Toys'R'Us and bought some toys. He picked out a big Scooby Doo ball and a little Elmo ball. A few other things too.
Photobucket
The next day, we had a party for him at the train depot.
Photobucket
He rode his truck around to show off.
Photobucket
Olivia (Little Mariah Carey) was there.
Photobucket
All of his baby friends came- Olivia, Aimery, Jude, Peyton, Parker, and Audessey.
Photobucket
Baby Jack had his own guitar cake. He loves guitars, just like me.
Photobucket
He even shared with his cousin, Aimery.
Photobucket
Baby Jack walks now.
Photobucket
That night, Baby stayed with his grandparents and Husband and I went out with Taylor (my sis in law) for her birthday. Bradi, Natalie, Brittani, and Taylor.
Photobucket
Went to Edna's.
Photobucket
Had a few lunchboxes. Which are Coors Light with a shot of amaretto and a splash of orange juice. Sounds gross, tastes delicious.
Photobucket
These lovely ladies are Husband's sisters. Natalie and Taylor. It was a fun night.

Sunday was sleepy and slightly hungover. We went to see It's Complicated. I know. But I love Meryl Streep so I will not apologize. It was ok. Looked around at the Jeep dealership. Cuddled with Baby. The end of the weekend.

A good weekend.

The Cutest Baby in the World.

That baby of mine sure knows how to have fun.  Every night, the Husband and I play with him on the floor and he has so much fun that he wears himself out and he's ready for bed.  He loves his baby Harley.  He's finally figured out how to push the peddle with his foot to take off.  (it doesn't go fast)  "Vrrrroom!"
Photobucket
Just Baby and the open road.
Photobucket
This is the new shirt we picked up at Target.  He was going to wear it on his birthday but I couldn't resist putting it on him with his gray skinny baby jeans.  He peed on the jeans and so we switched them out for comfy Gap sweat pants.  For his birthday outfit, I picked up a really cool and very  cute bright blue and white button up shirt.  Also from Target.
Photobucket
Sweet Baby face.
Photobucket
Baby tickles.
Photobucket
Tired out!  Baby Jack sat with Husband and watched TV for a little bit while I fixed his cereal and bottle.  He didn't squirm or grab at the remotes-  he just sat quietly, like a mature little boy.  Eventually he became sleepy.

Looking at these pictures makes me miss hardwood floors.  They just look so much nicer!  I haven't lived in a house with carpet in over 10 years.  The carpet is really appropriate for baby play though.  He rolls around and falls down on it and doesn't get hurt!  Someday when Baby and his baby sister (no, she's not here yet and no i'm not preggers again) are bigger and we have the money, I really, really want wood floors.  Or that house down the street that looks just like ours (flat roof) only bigger!  I would take that instead of the floors.

So I am in possession of some almost finished Bulletproof Tiger songs.  If you would like to hear them and give me feedback, please email me at festivalcityfilms@hotmail.com and i'll email you a song or two.  I'd like to hear what other people have to say- good or bad.

Lately I just haven't been my usual self.  I'm tired for no reason, I throw up a lot for no reason, I'm moody, have headaches.  (No, i'm absolutely not pregnant!)  I'm pretty sure I'm either sick and dying or just stressing.  I wish I had more time to work on things i love.  Music being the biggest thing with photography and art following.  It's so frustrating!  Oh yeah!  Also, for the past few weeks i've been having lucid dreams.  Lots of them.  It makes my brain so tired by the time i wake up.  Sometimes they are positive dreams where I can control everything and sometimes they are bad dreams where I know I'm dreaming and can't wake myself up.  I had a dream this morning that Husband and I were getting married in 1 day and I didn't have anything planned or a dress or anything.  It's a reoccurring dream i've had about different occasions since i was a child.  Sometimes it's halloween and I'm searching for a costume?  Prom and I'm searching in some crappy store for a dress?  It's kind of funny.  Wonder what it means.

Also, I think it would do me good to spend a nice evening with Husband.  When we go to dinner, one of us doesn't get to eat because we have to entertain a one year old and make sure the salsa and sugar packets are out of his reach.   We really want to see a movie but it's impossible to find someone who will babysit him in norman long enough for us to go see one.  When we do go out, friends are usually along for the ride, which is also fun, but it would be nice to hang out one on one.

This post is really random, I know.  My brain is very unfocused today.  Going to bathe baby and we're going to get out of this house.  Baby always makes me feel better about everything.  Especially when he gives me baby kisses.

I've always had a disliking for Sundays

Baby is learning lots of new things this week. For example, he has started taking several shakey steps by himself. When he plays with any of his car or motorcycle toys, he says "vroom." Well, something like "vroom" anyway. If you stick your tongue out at him, he does it back. He can even give you "five." Baby is also trying to climb out of his baby jail, sticking his long monkey toes in the gate, trying to scale it. He really likes to stand on his toys, even if it's a toy that's 2 inches tall.

Photobucket Baby's big boy cup with a straw.

Photobucket
This is what he does when you stick your tongue out at him.
Something we probaby shouldn't be teaching him but hey, it's funny.

Photobucket
This weekend seemed long but probably because we started it on Thursday. We went out with my brothers in Oklahoma City and stayed out later than we thought we would. Very tired on Friday. Went to Bandmate's apartment on Friday evening to listen to some finished Bulletproof Tiger songs. They turned out better than i ever thought they would be!

Photobucket
Saturday night my little brother played a set of instrumental songs at Coaches. He does that crazy August Rush lap tapping guitar stuff.

Photobucket
We had to say goodbye! He left to go back to NYC early this morning. I liked having him around for a month.

Birthday Baby!  A year ago I was so pregnant! It was very uncomfortable. Baby made me fat, kicked me all night, wouldn't let me sleep, wouldn't let me go 2 minutes without peeing, wouldn't let me eat avocados or red bell peppers, and gave me the worst heartburn you could ever have. I can't believe it's already been a year. They say babies grow up fast and They're right. I get sad when I come across a tiny jumper with little foldover mittens. Now he is a little happy person who eats little jars of food and drinks apple juice. Friday is his birthday and I'm looking forward to spending the day with him. I won't even trick him into eating vegetables. Saturday is his party and we're very excited.

It's been a very boring day. I did nothing productive. Wait, I unloaded the dishwasher and worked out. I came across a box of photos taken at our wedding. EEW. Love the man I married, hated the wedding. I was pregnant and fat and Husband was in the emergency room half of the day so I was filled with worry and on top of that, had to cancel my hair appointment. I cried because my best friends were out of state and couldn't be there. Husband didn't have a single friend there. I was so prego sick that I couldn't eat at the reception and of course couldn't even have champagne at my own wedding. I threw the pictures away and never want to look at them again. I should have insisted we wait until after Jack was born like we had agreed on in the first place!  I've never been one to give into anything.  Anyway, so that made my day a little blue and my mood still hasn't recovered. Husband doesn't understand but he's been married before and already had a real wedding, a pretty one, so why would he? It just makes me mad at myself because when i agreed to get married so soon, i was promised we would plan a real wedding for the following year.  I know there are bigger things going on in the world, like wars and earthquakes, but sometimes i just need to feel sorry for myself.  Okay?  Everyone else gets to get married damnit, why couldn't i?

Happy Sunday, everyone.
♥ jp

*let me just note that i have a great husband and it's not that i wish we weren't married, i wish the circumstances had been different.  this is a warning to all- this is what happens when you let your boyfriend take control of your wedding and you're promised a real wedding later.  It never happens.

Little Mariah Carey

Yesterday, Jack and I had a playdate!  My best friend, Angela, has a 2 year old daughter, Olivia.  She shrieks so loud and high pitched that I call her Little Mariah Carey.  She says "hi" to everyone, loves french fries,  and drinks Ovaltine.  She likes to play with blocks and watch cartoons.  She is too adorable.
Photobucket
Little Mariah Carey in a little red hat.

Photobucket
In their car seats they stared at each other.  Baby Jack seemed a little scared and whimpered a lot.  First girl he's ever been intimidated by!  (I'll remind them of this when they're teenagers.)  Angela and I wandered around Target and the babies decided to hold hands.  They were very excited.
Photobucket
Baby Jack decided Little Mariah wasn't so bad after all and wanted to share his berry Mish Mash snack.  He had already eaten it all so he just gave her his trash.  It's the thought that counts, right?
Photobucket
I love this new little shirt I picked up the other day!  Guess where I found it-  Wal-Mart!  And guess how much it was?  $3.50  !!!  What a deal.  Notice Baby's hair is getting longer?  FINALLY!  We're very excited about it.
Photobucket
Baby has a very sweet nature about him.  He's very friendly and always willing to share.  He's very happy and playful.  He makes me very happy.

Photobucket
After Target, we went home and the babies pulled out all of Baby Jack's toys and played.  If Olivia had a toy, Jack wanted to play with that toy.  If Jack had a toy, Olivia wanted to play with it.  Baby Jack would chase Olivia and she would get scared and run to her momma.  It was cute.  There was some whining but overall I think they had fun.  Neither of them gets to be around other kids very often so they're just trying to figure it all out.

Today, Baby and I are going to run around town and find stuff to do.  We're bored staying home all the time.  If you have any ideas for us, let me know.

is this mic on?

does anybody even read this besides the Husband?  Just wondering.  I have nothing to report right now.  Finished up recording yesterday.  Had a lazy sunday evening.  Watched The Reader.  Or tried to anyway.  Baby toys are so loud.  Flipped through a new Martha Stewart Wedding mag.  Made myself thoroughly sad.  Today, Baby and I are up for adventure.  Which probably means we will go to Wal-Mart and buy groceries and then come home and put them away.  Maybe do a load or two of laundry.  Sounds exciting, huh?  The longest part of my day will be trying to put baby shoes on Baby's big feet.  Have a great week, Husband.
